Read and listen to the beautiful story posted on google classroom today. It's a story of a girl named Sonia.After going through her story, comment below the different characteristics of language.
All Human beings communicate by means of language which has made overall progress of the world.In the above given story of Sonia some characteristics of language which I understood are , 1.expression of her mother when Sonia achieved something ,where would feel happy and would communicate to Sonia with a non verbal way. 2.Language is learnt through imitation,practice ,where Sonia learned from her mother because her mother use talk to her continuously and Sonia express it through calling her mumma. 3.Language is vocal where communication enhance when it is both sided. 4. Language get developed evolved and expand with his ability and efforts,where Sonia learned new words and understood with the time.
In Sonia case she always be with her mom where her mom is quite loving, caring and supportive towards Sonia. 1)When Sonia was small her mom used to talk to her anytime. 2) Sonia was from poor or middle class family but all the family members were loving toward her specially mom. 3) Sonia mom used to teach Sonia how to talk in her own mother tongue language. 4) sonia achievement used to happiness to her mom that Sonia discovered Which make her happy too. 5) Her used to read story books for her, teach nursery rhymes. 6) Sonia used to enjoy conversation with her mom for long time. 7) when Sonia grew up her mom taught her complex things into simple way so that she would understand easily. 8) Sonia mom was her first teacher to teach each and everything in systematic way. 9) Sonia mom talk Sonia symbolic images with proper pronunciation with the help of her mother tongue language. 10) Sonia was quite smart to grab learning very soon because her mom talk her in loving and supportive way from start. In this story the characteristics of language are: 1) Language is arbitrary 2) Language is symbolic 3) Language is vocal 4) Language is productive and creative 5) Language is learnt 6) Language is non- instinctive, conventional 7) Language is social
The story of mother and daughter.Her daughter name is Sonia. She is childhood. Mother is the most important person in the life of a child it is important for her to be a positive and Education base of role. Sonali can look up to appreciate and honor to mother. Sonali Mother is a good mother to her children. No one replace the role of parents in the life of their sonali. Her mother is a good parenting and also give each and every thing to teach in a better way for e.g. teach acting, new vocabulary, structure and communicate many roles like show alphabet,video and singing also. Her mother is very caring about to everything. The different characteristics of language are 1. Quality Time 2. Discipline 3. Carring Mother 4. Development skill (language) 5. Expressive language development ( Reading Books Rhymes and sing songs) 6. Mother Tongue 7. Ability to communicate 8. Growth and maturation of the brain 9. Quite down or smile when spoken to mother 10. Make sounds indicating differently 11. Receptive language( the ability to respond to spoken language) 12. Verbal communication 13. Childhood speech( desirable to underStand the mother sound) 14. Encouraging language development 15. Understanding communication (To recognize her mother voice)
- In sonia case the language focus on words symbols or sign while communication. - we can say language is a tool while communication is the process of using the tools. - In the story The Sonia was also trying to communicate with her mother with the help of different language which is mother tongue or sign. - face expression. - languages is symbol. - language through imitating.
To have a communication with one another we all need a medium and the medium through which we can communicate is language. Language is not necessary what we write or read it can also be in symbolic and gesture form. Through sonia story whatever her mother had talk to her in her childhood was the first method of communication because she start understanding the communication between her mother and herself. while as she grown up sonia mother thaught her different words that was used by the surrounding people to communicate and slowly steadily she herself start adopting different mediums to communicate with others.
Language are acquired-because no one is born with knowing language, they learn. Sonia learnt language from her mother. Language is system- every language consists of sound, structure and vocabulary. Sonia learnt various sound ,new vocab from her mother. Language is for communication ,anyone can express feeling, emotions through language easily. Language is arbitrary means there is no direct connection between word and real object. Sonia's mother taught her few word like apple as "Sagwa" man as "namja". Symbol of language is vocal. In the case of Sonia when she was not able to speak ,her mother understood everything when she used to giggle and cry.
Language is a way of showing your emotions and expressing yourself,it forms a medium for communication,it makes communication easy. It isn't necessary for language to always be verbal best example of this is sign language,where people communicate through means of sign and expressions. In Sonia's case her mother used both verbal and nonverbal language,through her expressions she communicated through language of love with sonia thus encouraging her,this showed the encouraging characteristics of language. Through reading fairy tales,books about korean culture Sonia's mother increased Sonia's vocabulary,she did this merely through reading,this shows that speech is an important characteristic of language. She taught sonia to write alphabets which in turn increased Sonia's knowledge of language,thus script is also an important characteristic of language. These all characteristics of language in turn helps a person to express themselves in more specific and exact ways.
Language is a tool to communicate verbally or in written.It is characterized on few things like 1.Language is a social Phenomenon- if we see in sonia's story, she is been listening to her mom from a very small age.Her mom read korean books to her, sang lullaby and nursery rhymes to her which is why she developed and learnt the language in a social way. 2. Language is a symbolic system- Sonia, when she grew up little she was introduced to korean alphabets ny different images which in a symbolic way taught her the language. 3. Language is vocal, verbal and sound- As a kid, sonia always listened to her mom speaking to her even when she didn't know to speak as she was too small but she smiled, giggled or cried to show that she understands the language. 4. Language is a system of communication 5. Language is human and structurally complex- language is developed in a structured format with grammatical rules and ways of forming sentences.
